Current local news affecting today's business traveler
Since 21 January 2016 a law amending the visa waiver program came into effect. It stipulates that travelers are now largely excluded from the visa waiver program if they have spent time on or after 1 March 2011 in Iraq, Iran, Syria or Sudan, or have dual citizenship that includes one of these countries.
Travelers who fall under the new law must then apply for a visa for entry into the USA. ESTA travel authorizations that have already been issued will also lose their validity.
The travelers concerned should contact the competent US diplomatic office in Germany before planning a trip to the USA and, if necessary, apply for a US visa.
