Current local news affecting today's business traveler
As of 1 August 2015, Canada has introduced the eTA (Electronic Travel Authorization) procedure for entry into the country. Starting 15 March 2016 the procedure is then mandatory.
Although no visa is required for business or leisure stays of up to six months, all German nationals who are exempt from the visa requirement must obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization before they can enter Canada by air.
Travelers can apply for authorization in advance of their flight on the Citizenship and Immigration Canada website (www.cic.gc.ca). Usually, an electronic notification that entry authorization has been granted/not granted is received within a few minutes. The fee for the electronic application is 7 CAD.
