Current local news affecting today's business traveler
Many travelers carelessly throw away their boarding pass after the flight, but private information could then fall into the hands of a third party. It is therefore advisable to shred boarding passes, because certain scanners are able to decode the bar code or QR code printed on the ticket. This reveals the name, seat, booking number and frequent flyer number. Hackers could use this data to access a passenger’s complete user profile.
Even if cases of this sort are rare up to now, it is still advisable to dispose of boarding passes in such a way that they are no longer legible.
