Asia: more cases of dengue fever
Several countries in Asia – including Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand – are currently seeing an increase in the number of cases of dengue fever. The fever is generally transmitted through infected mosquitoes, which are mainly active during the day. Because there is no vaccine available, the only effective measures are to prevent infection by wearing long protective clothing, using mosquito repellent and covering beds with mosquito nets.
